Get to Know Muah the One and Only: Echo Prescott (Nachgepinga)
Who am I?
Hello! My name is Echo Prescott or otherwise known as Nachgepinga (good feeling in the heart) which is my Native American name given to me by my uncle during my baptism before the age of 1. I grew up in Oshkosh, WI and I loved every second of it until I became aware of the fact that there were much cooler places that held a lot more opportunity for me as a person pursing big dreams. I moved to Florida a month after I graduated high school. This decision was so incredibly scary since I was moving with only my boyfriend across the country to a big city where neither of us knew anybody. For the first two years of living in Florida, all we did was adventure, travel, and participate in online schooling for a bachelors in business (which I plan to finish in August 2024).
After taking 2 "gap" years off of in-person school I decided to pursue a huge dream at the University of Tampa, to show me how and the resources to become an auteur filmmaker. I came to this conclusion of wanting to pursue making films after a tragic accident I had experienced a year and a half back that gave me PTSD and terrible anxiety. The only thing that made me feel normal after this incident was watching films and television. After a couple months of sitting on my couch and using films and tv for an escape I found that I truly understood the importance of creating movies and shows. The influence that these had over me as a survivor of PTSD and anxiety influenced me to also want to help others through creating wonderfully influential films and television that change the directory of tv and cinematic history as well as creating a safe place for everyone and anyone.
Furthermore, an interesting fact about me, is that I am Native American, specifically Potawatomi and Ho-chunk. Growing up, my father guided my brother and I to practice more Ho-chunk traditions rather than Potawatomi (we still were involved in Potawatomi practices). Church was always dreadful until I reached my teenage years were I realized how powerful it was to sit on a singular blanket on a floor and eat peyote until the sun came up, feeling our ancestors and the Holy Spirit. It has been a couple years since I have danced jingle dress (medicine women) at a Pow Wow, but I wish to be back in the arena soon, the sound of the drum beating and the family around is such an amazing environment that I happen to miss dearly.
Lastly, I guess I could end this introduction post with letting you know the things that I enjoy. What I find most interesting is people, meeting new people of all ages, races and education level is truly influential when making friends and also for material when writing plots and characters for screen-writes. I really love watching television and movies, my favorite show is Better Call Saul, the sequel of Breaking Bad, and my favorite movie is Slums of Beverly Hills, with Natasha Lyonne, Marissa Tomei and Allen Arkin. I also love to dance all styles (I was in dance companies and varsity team since five years old) and also listen to all types of music besides country, yuck! And lastly, of course I always want to be outside in Mother Nature!
This is me :)
