What Exactly is the Internet? Wifi? The World Wide Web? Bluetooth?

 The Internet is...

The internet, in simple terms, is a universal computer system in which anyone with a computer system can access information that is readily available to the world, in which people can create their own content on the internet. The legend who is most famously known for creating/inventing the internet is an American computer pioneer known as Vinton Gray Cerf, who's incredible work would be used as a foundation for everyone else after him creating new things towards the growth of this computer system. In 1974, Cerf and a colleague went live with their new version of the internet, since the internets concept was already a thing, Cerf realized that one computer should be able to "connect" to another through the internet, being able to transmit valuable data and information to one another. At first the internet was used to have technological advantage over the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and also so that government could access and transmit information faster. Today, we use the internet for quite literally everything, school classes and assignments through websites available to students, social media to stay connected to ones closets to us but are far away geographically, and even for escapism from the real world to meet new people.

The World Wide Web is...

The World Wide Web or WWW is the information system accessible using the internet to be able to access webpages created by users in which others can use to interact with or learn from. This was invented by a British Scientist known as Tim Berners-Lee. In 1989, he wanted to create something where professionals in institutions like universities could share and adapt automated information. Ultimately, at first, the use for the WWW was so that scientist and even philosophers from universities could access this automated information to further studies. Today, the World Wide Web is used for almost everything just like the internet, to create webpages, blogs, video archives and communication services the literally connect everyone in the world together as it clearly is today.

Internet VS World Wide Web

The internet is a computer system that allows one to access information others have produced. However, the World Wide Web is the location or system in which information is available for people to collaborate within and share with others. The similarities of these two is the fact that they both are tools used to connected people and information digitally rather than physically through letters, books, or novels. The differences of these too is actually very great as well. The internet is more of the foundation of being able to access the World Wide Web, however without internet, one could also use cellular data or hotspots to access the WWW. The World Wide Web is the more so the walls and furniture inside, whereas like I just said, the internet is the foundation of the house.

The Very First Website was...

The very first website to ever be created was through the company CERN that was where Tim Berners-Lee was associated when he created the World Wide Web in the first place. This website launched on August 6th, 1991, and it was called or found through the URL, info.cer.ch. This website was also created by Tim Berners-Lee and the team at CERN on Berners-Lees own computer. The website is still available; however, it has a slightly different URL than before. The new link is TheProject.html !

Who is Hedy Lamarr?

Hedy Lamarr was an American actress during the Golden Age of Hollywood films and also a technological inventor. Her connection to the invention of Bluetooth was that she created the basis technology that influenced and started the process of creating Bluetooth and Wifi. The technology that she created was known as frequency hopping, which was a way to transmit radio signals by changing the frequency between them. The actor, singer, and guitarist Johnny Depp wrote a song with Jeff Beck paying homage to Hedy Lamar singing about how she was hidden away just because of accusations made about her in her later years. Johnny Depp released this song just days after he won the defamation trial against Amber Turd, in which some say that he had felt the same way Hedy did when she was hidden away for stupid accusations.

What is Bluetooth? A Literal Blue Tooth?

Bluetooth is technology connection between fixed or nonfixed computer systems, including mobile devices. In the mid 1990's a Swedish mobile inventor named Dr. Jaap Haartsen, who figured the technology for Bluetooth in whole. However, the name "Bluetooth," was sought out by a man named Jim Kardach, who was very knowledgeable of Scandanavian novel after conversating with colleague, decided to name this new technology after King Harold Bluetooth from the history book about Vikings.

What is Wi-Fi? A Cool Type of Waffle?

Wi-Fi is a sometimes-wireless technology connection that allows computers, mobile devices, and other systems to connect to the internet and access the WWW. The idea of Wi-fi was discovered and created through the collaborating team of Astrophysics who were guided by Dr. John Sullivan in the year 1988. Furthermore, the original name of Wi-fi was not catchy or rememberable in any sense, which was originally called "IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence." The soon after in the year 1999 the technology marketers needed a more valuable and rememberable name to propose to the public rather than the IEEE 802.11b Direct sequence, because that is a mouth full. So, eventually they came up with the fun and jumpy name of Wi-fi!
